Instructor Standards
World-class training can only be delivered by world-class professionals. Every instructor is selected for operational experience, instructional ability, integrity and a proven record in demanding environments — ensuring consistent, accountable and professionally delivered training across all protective-security disciplines.
Grounded in reality, not theory
Our instructors bring between 5 and 35 years of British Military experience, including overseas operations, multinational training missions, complex security tasks, and the management of personnel in high-pressure environments. That background ensures every lesson taught is grounded in practical reality.
Experience across the professions
Beyond the British Army, our training cadre includes veterans of the UK Special Forces, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and UK Armed Police, alongside professionals from UK Fire and Rescue services, the paramedic and nursing sectors, and the international private security industry. Many have served as Close Protection operators and Instructors, Oil & Gas security specialists, or in specialist units operating in remote and challenging theatres.
Several have supported or advised government agencies, NGOs, multinational organisations and the United Nations, and a number are decorated for distinguished service — bringing a legacy of recognised excellence to their instruction. Their specialist fields include:
Weapons Handling
Safe handling, drills and discipline to a defined, lawful standard.
Communications
Field and operational communications across varied environments.
Counter-Terrorism
Threat awareness and protective measures in high-risk settings.
Medical Response & Trauma Management
Emergency care and trauma management for operational environments.
C-IED Awareness
Recognition, threat assessment and actions-on — awareness level.
Operational Planning
Structured planning and risk management for complex tasks.
Context, not just skills
To support our global learners, the cadre also includes international educational specialists and retired senior police officers. These professionals ensure students understand not only the practical skills, but also the cultural, legal and ethical frameworks of the regions in which they may operate.
Trained to teach, not just to do
Every instructor is a professionally qualified educator. Across the whole cadre — UK specialist instructors and our qualified Ugandan teaching staff alike — instructors hold the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA), or mainstream teaching credentials. This common standard ensures every lesson is delivered with clarity, professionalism and an understanding of modern adult-learning methodologies, wherever the instructor was trained.
Three seats, deliberately separate
Leadership is divided across three distinct functions, so that no single person sets the standard, teaches it and signs it off. This mirrors the separation of roles in our wider governance framework.
Instructional standard & delivery — the Training Director
Guardian of the instructional standard and its intellectual property. The Training Director owns what is taught and how it is delivered to standard — instructor consistency, operational competence and the integrity of delivery on the ground.
Educational governance & oversight — the Head Principal
The Head Principal leads educational governance: pedagogy, adult-learning methodology, teaching quality and learner academic standards across all programmes.
Independent assurance — the Quality Assurance Lead
A qualified Quality Assurance lead independently verifies that assessment and delivery meet the standard — internal verification, assessment standards and audit readiness. Assurance is held separately from those who set and teach the standard.
OPSEC & Instructor Privacy
In the security and defence sector, confidentiality is essential. Britannia Elite does not publish the identities, photographs or operational histories of its instructors on any public platform — a practice consistent with reputable security and hostile-environment training providers worldwide.
Instructor credentials and verifications are available to vetted clients, partner organisations and government agencies on request.
Only the highest calibre
All Britannia Elite personnel undergo:
- UK security checks
- International police vetting
- Overseas deployment clearance
- Continuous professional review
This ensures that only the highest calibre of instructor is entrusted with the training and safety of our students.
Led from the front
Britannia Elite is led by a management team with significant experience in education, defence and quality assurance. The leadership includes recipients of honours such as the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and the Military Cross (MC), and holders of senior academic qualifications including doctorates. This governance structure underpins the highest standards of instruction, safety and quality across all programmes.
Aligned to recognised authorities
Britannia Elite’s approach to personnel vetting and protective security reflects recognised UK practice. Further guidance on protective and personnel security is published by the United Kingdom’s National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), the national technical authority for physical and personnel protective security.
Instructor Standards are maintained by Britannia Elite Ltd as part of its wider governance and oversight framework. For verification of instructor credentials, vetted clients, partner organisations and government agencies may contact info@britannia-elite.co.uk.
