Who We Are

Training built to international expectation

Our learners receive training that reflects the expectations of modern security environments and the organisations that operate within them. Our purpose is clear: to strengthen capability, improve readiness, and support organisations that require credible, compliant and professionally delivered development pathways.

Organisational Structure

International Standards

Human rights, written into every level

Our training is built on, and aligned to, two international standards: the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) and the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (the ICoC). Together they set out how responsible security is delivered — lawfully, proportionately, and with respect for the rights of everyone involved, including the communities around an operation.

One standard, across both pathways

These principles are not a bolt-on or an optional module. They are written into the curriculum and run through every level of both Vigilant Defender™ and Project Athena™ — the same standard from the first day to the last, deepening as a learner progresses from foundation through to advanced application.

And they are assessed, not simply taught. Lawful, proportionate conduct is a required standard on every use-of-force element of the curriculum — a learner has to demonstrate it, not just recall it. It is one expression of the same commitment set out in our Values & Standards.

UN Guiding Principles IFC Performance Standard 4 Voluntary Principles (VPSHR) International Code of Conduct (ICoC)

The Voluntary Principles and the ICoC are voluntary international frameworks; they are not, in themselves, a licence or a regulated qualification. Britannia Elite delivers training aligned to these standards and certifies the training completed and competence assessed.

Our Mission

A regional centre of excellence

We want to raise the standard of professional security training in Uganda and across East Africa — and to make that standard accessible. Beyond individual courses, the longer aim is to help establish Uganda as a regional centre of excellence for security training: improving employability, strengthening the organisations that hire our graduates, and contributing to safer communities.

Our Instructors & Expertise

Taught by people who have done the job

Our instructors are not classroom theorists. The team draws on operational experience from the UK Armed Forces, Special Forces support elements, armed police units and the emergency services, alongside senior educators who hold the teaching to account.

That mix matters. Learners are taught not just the procedures, but the judgement and professional conduct that operating safely under pressure actually demands. A consistent standard depends on consistent instruction: two Head Instructors hold the Britannia Elite standard for human-rights-aligned training and cascade it through every instructor, so a learner receives the same standard wherever they train and whoever teaches them. Every course is structured, assessed and built to develop people who can be relied on in the field.

Accreditation & Qualifications

Set in the UK, accredited in Uganda

Britannia Elite aligns its programmes with UK and Ugandan qualification frameworks. Standards are set under UK academic governance, then accredited and certified in-country through Britannia Elite Uganda, which holds the accreditation and governs delivery by Nile Protective Training.

For employers, that produces something practical: a clear, documented compliance trail behind every qualification — the evidence of competence and due diligence that cross-border security work increasingly requires.

How We Train

Three principles, in everything we deliver

Professional Discipline

Training is structured, measurable and built around clear learning outcomes.

Operational Realism

Scenarios reflect the real pressures, decisions and threats of the work.

Safety & Compliance

Every activity runs under strict safety protocols, proper risk management and transparent oversight.

Practical, relevant, accountable — nothing delivered for the sake of it.
